Natural Intestine Balance
We here at Lovely health have been looking for a long time for a natural, effective, supplement to balance the natural population of flora in the gut. Imagine our surprise when we read on an American website about a natural supplement based on leaves from a New Zealand tree used in a product manufactured in New Zealand that has been around for approximately 10 years. There has been a lot of research done on the efficacy of this product as well.
We immediately made enquiries about this product and have managed to obtain rights to sell the range of Kolorex products on the internet internationally. We are very excited about the Kolorex Range as we feel it fills a large gap in our product range of natural New Zealand Products.

The Kolorex® Story:
The microflora that cover our bodies, inside and out, occasionally get out of balance, causing unsightly skin and health issues internally. Kolorex® can help restore Nature's balance, naturally.
The key to the effectiveness of Kolorex® is high activity specimens of the traditional New Zealand herb, Horopito. These are grown organically by Forest Herbs Research Limited in their natural habitat, and each batch must pass an independent test for activity prior to use in the Kolorex range.
Laboratory studies show this high activity Horopito is probably more useful than Pau d'Arco or Olive Leaf Extract in helping your body restore its natural microflora balance.
What is special about Kolorex®?
Kolorex® is available in a number of easy to use forms: capsules for intestinal use, two types of cream for either intimate use, or for application to the feet and toes.
What do we mean by balanced intestinal flora?
Our intestinal tract is home to many species of bacteria (flora). These flora can be divided into two types, friendly and unfriendly. Among the unfriendly flora, the most aggressive and opportunist is the yeast Candida albicans. Whilst our flora play an important role in overall health, any imbalance of the normal ratio of friendly and unfriendly flora may result in a wide variety of health issues.
How do we know if our flora is out of balance?
An overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria may result in varied signs. The most commonly reported include digestive upset as well as more widespread symptoms such as chronic fatigue, skin rashes, intimate itching, depression and difficulty concentrating.
The natural balance in other parts of the body can be lost too. This is particularly so in our warm, moist areas, such as the groin, anal area, and between the toes. If the balance is lost in these areas skin irritation can occur.
What affects this balance?
Our normal flora balance can be adversely affected by many factors, the most common of which are poor diet (for example a diet high in processed food, sweet or alcoholic beverages), stress, and certain prescription drugs, in particular broad-spectrum antibiotics. It is also common for women taking the oral contraceptive pill.
How do we get our systems back into balance?
It is important to identify and address the root cause of the imbalance. This may involve modification of diet and lifestyle. There are many information sources and you may wish to seek the advice of a practitioner experienced in this area. Many products are now available to support balanced intestinal flora. Probiotic products are beneficial in building up good intestinal flora. However, you should consider using a product such as Kolorex®, that actually helps supports normal healthy balance.
Horopito - the ancient herb:
New Zealand's isolated position deep in the South Pacific has produced extraordinary flora and fauna. New Zealand has over 2000 unique plants. One, called Horopito (Pseudowintera colorata), has existed largely unchanged for 65 million years!
Horopito is one of the earliest evolved, and most primitive flowering plants. The tiny flowers are overshadowed by the beautiful coloured leaves.
Horopito The actives in Kolorex®:
The main active component in Horopito is polygodial. The effect of polygodial is increased 32 times by the addition of anethol, the main active of anise seed. Anise seed (aniseed) is a traditional medicinal herb in its place of origin – South America.
In addition to its actions against yeasts, Horopito also contains the powerful antioxidant flavonoids - quercetin and taxifolin.
Forest Herbs has discovered a five-fold difference in activity between the most active and least active Horopito populations. An effective preparation needs to be based on Horopito derived from one of the 'active' populations. Forest Herbs Research has the only commercial planting of active Horopito and a patent over its use.
A reason Horopito has survived so well is the actives in its leaves discourage attack from fungi or predators. These properties were recognised by New Zealand's early settlers, who traditionally used the leaves as an external and internal remedy.
University research in New Zealand and USA has identified the natural actives and compared them favourably against alternatives.
Forest Herbs Research:
Forest Herbs' plants are grown organically at their own farm, called Kaituna, adjacent to the million acre Kahurangi National Park. This is a temperate rainforest wilderness of New Zealand with the only intrusion being a few hiking tracks.
To replicate Horopito's natural growing environment the plants are grown in sheltered clearings in the forest. The Horopito bushes must be at least five years old before they are harvested.
